Allyson Felix

Allyson Michelle Felix was born in Los Angeles on November 18 1985. Her father Paul Felix is an ordained minister at Master's Seminary, Sun Valley. Her mother Marlean Felix is a teacher at Balboa Magnet Primary School. Felix showed a flair for sports early, and discovered her athletic abilities when she attended the Los Angeles Baptist High School. Ten weeks after the first time she tried out the sport, she finished 2nd in the 200m race in the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championship. Felix was signed to a professional career with Adidas in 2003, and then enrolled at University of Southern California to pursue a degree in elementary education. Felix won her first Olympic gold medal during the Athens Summer Olympics 2004. Felix broke a junior-world record in the 200-meter race with a time of 22.18. The year 2005 was the time she became the youngest world champion of 200 meters at the Helsinki World Championships. She won the title again in 2007 beating her former Jamaican competitor Veronica Campbell. Felix was a frequent competitor at Beijing, London Rio de Janeiro, as well as Tokyo. She consistently placed within the top three places of all events.
